Nexus Consulting was founded
by Michael T. Matthews, Ph.D.
Mike began working as an
evaluation consultant while a graduate student in
Sociology at the University of California, Riverside. As
a graduate student, he worked as a member of a
consulting team and, later, as an independent
consultant.
As a graduate student, he saw many organizations struggle
to meet the demands of funders, who increasingly required
more sophisticated data collection, program evaluation, and
reporting. It was also during this time that he grew
frustrated with what he perceived as a disconnect between
academic research and practical research designed to
address specific problems.
After he completed his doctorate, he continued to expand
his individual consulting practice (see Experience) and founded Nexus Consulting to
provide organizations with information they can use to
make more effective administrative and programmatic
decisions. He has also successfully helped agencies
write and prepare grant proposals. He is currently a
member of the American Evaluation Association, the
American Society of Criminology, and the Corona-Norco
Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.
